Planning application approved!
[updated 10 June 2008]

In a unanimous vote, the South Oxfordshire District Council Planning Committee of 4 June 2008, sitting at Crowmarsh, unanimously approved the TFP planning application for the development at Church Farm.

In a fantastic show of support, a coach load of players, parents and managers was backed up by others in a fleet of cars who descended upon the quiet council chambers to press home the case.

A warm thanks from the TFP

We would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone – children, parents and supporters – who attended the meeting at the District Council Offices in Wallingford.

From the comments made by the Chair of the Committee and those in the Council Chamber it was evident that they were highly impressed by the level of support for the project, and you can all feel rightly proud that your presence contributed to the positive outcome on the evening.
Our thanks, also, to those who made comments on the planning application but were unable to attend on the evening.
Again, we know from the report presented to the Councillors that the high level of support influenced Councillors with respect to the level of community benefit arising from the scheme.

Chairman Tim says a big "thank-you"

Fresh form the historic vote in the council chamber, Thame Boys Chairman Tim Green thanked everybody for a magnificent show of support for their club. "What a brilliant turn-out!" said Tim, "a massive thanks to all who have made the effort to come along tonight - it made a fantastic difference and showed exactly what this club is all about!"

A coach load of excited youngsters, coaches, managers and parents had been joined at the Cattle Market by a local TV news crew - BBC we think! - so watch this space.

The transport and support had been coordinated by Paul Hopwood so a big thanks to Paul from the club and everyone who enjoyed the luxurious mini-break into South Oxfordshire, taking in some lovely back-streets and bridges in Wallingford that were a special surprise from the driver. Who needs to travel abroad?

Tim had helped present the club's case with other representatives of the Thame Football Partnership and was suitably impressed with the outcome - "what a great night for football in Thame and especially after all the hard work that has gone into this in the past two years!" said Tim excitedly rushing off for a celebratory glass of Dandelion wine.

Planning committee chairman says a warm "thank-you"

The Planning Committee were presented with an excellent case in support of the TFP planning application.

Supported by some very eloquent and persuasive presentations from Thame Town Council, Thame Football Partnership and Thame Boys Chairman Tim Green the case was debated fully before a packed and eager crowd of Thame Boys and Thame United clad supporters.

There was early acknowledgement by the committee chairman, Cllr. Slatter as to the strength of the Thame support as she warmly welcomed everyone and thanked all for showing such interest.

She also acknowledged the excellent turn-out of all the youngsters, as did a number of the councillors who took part in the debate.

At the end of the day, the case was compelling, the vote was unanimous and a mjor hurdle in the quest to bring football back to Thame was cleared brilliantly.

A massive well done to all those who presented the case and especially those who have worked tirelessly putting such a good case together!
